Ronald Modawell Obituary

Ronald Dean Modawell was born to John Henry and Myrtle Lou Modawell in Becton, Texas in 1941. He was the youngest of 6 children: Ruth Boren, Gilbert, Ike, John and Paul Modawell. He was raised in Lubbock Texas and attended school at Lubbock High School where he met his future wife Patsy Ann Jeter.

Ronald joined the Navy and served from 1957-61. He served on the USS Norton Sound a missile frigate based in Port Hueneme, CA Naval Base. He returned home to Lubbock and joined the Lubbock Fire Department where he served from 1971-95. He served 24 years attaining the rank of Deputy Chief. He took great pride in serving his country in the Navy, as fire fighter and also as a member of the Lubbock Lions Club.

Ronald married Patsy Ann Jeter on June 26, 1958 in Lubbock, Tx. They had 4 children: Pamela Ann, Jeffery Dean, Andy Blaine and Brenda Arlene.

Ronald accepted Christ at the age of 21 and his faith in Christ has been a driving force behind a life of service to his country and community.

Ronald moved to Wimberley in 1999 and has been a member of Wimberley First Baptist Church since that time. He was an active member of the Carpenter’s Helpers assisting the needy all over the Hill Country and South Texas.

Ronald passed away quietly in his home after a lengthy illness on April 12, 2024. And has joined his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in Heaven and awaits his family. He is survived by his wife Patsy Ann, brother John Modawell and wife Gisela, his sister-in-law Joy Modawell, his son-in-law Lee Johnson and daughter Jessica Lee, his son Jeff Modawell, wife Gaylen, their children Emily Kate and Jeffery Russell.  His son Andy Blaine and wife Tina. Andy’s daughters Lauren, Lindsey and Kathryn and his daughter Brenda Arlene Cavazos and her husband Tom and their children Meagan, Nicholas and Laurel Ann. Ronald and Patsy have left a spiritual inheritance to 9 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and a host of friends.

Memorial Service will be held at First Baptist Church Wimberley, Tx on May 6, 2024 at 10:30 am.
